Employees and their dependents that experience certain changes in their family status or employment are eligible for changes outside the open enrollment period. Changes will be allowed with proper documentation of the status change and completion of the proper paperwork within 31 days of the qualifying event.
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Commencement or Termination of a Dependent’s job
- Death of a Dependent
- Marriage, Divorce, or Legal separation
- Dependent(s) becoming ineligible for coverage
You will have 31 days from the date of the qualifying event to get the necessary paperwork to the Williamson County Benefits Department. If the paperwork is not received within the 31 days following the event, enrollment will not be allowed and your next opportunity for enrollment will be during the Annual Open Enrollment period.
Medical & Dental benefits will take effect on the date the qualifying event took place or the following day based on the type of event. All Voluntary Benefits (Vision, Supplemental Life Policies, etc…) will not take effect until the 1st
of the month following 60 days from the date of change.
