2. Williamson County Residency Requirement

I fully understand that my team is to be comprised of at least seventy (70) percent Williamson County residents for my team to be given priority to play in this league. I also understand that if my team is not compliant with the policy of having 70% Williamson County residents, our registration will be considered after the registration forms from teams that have complied with this policy. All teams must be registered and pay all fees associated with league play within the registration period of TBA to be considered for this league. I understand that this form does not guarantee placement in this league, and that in the event my team is not placed in the league, any registration fees I have paid will be fully refunded.

3. How do I sign up for leagues?

You need to e-mail us your name, address, phone number and which league your interested in.

4. What is the age requirement?

All players have to be 18 years old and out of high school to play in Williamson County Parks and Recreation adult leagues.

5. How do individuals get on a team?

Registration is on a per team basis, and we cannot accept money from players or place them on a team. We can, however, try to coordinate interested individuals. with any team captains who may need more players. If there are enough interested individual players, it is possible to create a totally new team.

No. It does, however, have electrical and water hookups (20 amp service only). If your interested in these services while participating in an event, please contact your event organizer. Animal Control

1. Where is the dog park located?

Maggie's Bark Park is located next door to The Williamson County Animal Control facility at 138 Claude Yates Dr., right behind Franklin High School and Columbia State just off Hillsboro Rd.

2. Do you adopt out animals from animal control?

Yes our adoption fees are as follows: Dogs/Puppies $65 Cats/Kittens $45 These fees include 1st parvo/Distemper VX (dogs), worming, rabies vx and spay/neuter, upper Resp. VX (cat). It is required that each adopted shelter animal be spayed/neutered according to the adoption contract.

3. What if the pet I adopted from animal control gets sick?

We always recommend anyone who adopts to take the animal to a vet for a complete health check as soon as possible. Although we have a vet that visits our shelter on a regular basis , it is impossible to guarantee the health of any animal. We often don't know the medical history of the animals we receive, but still want them to have a home. It is our heartfelt intention that everyone receive a healthy animal. In the unfortunate circumstance that an animal who has been adopted becomes sick, we will either give an adoption refund or a gift certificate to adopt at another time.

4. How long does a stray animal stay at Animal Control? How long does the animal stay in adoption?

When an animal is picked up by animal control or brought to the shelter by a citizen, that animal is held for at least 7 working days. if the animal is wearing an ID or a rabies tag we immediately try and contact the owners. the 7 working day period (State law is only 72 hours) will allow the owner time to claim the animal. After that time if the animal is not claimed , and is healthy and friendly, he will go to the adoption area. There is no specific timeset for the animals period of stay simply because we try as long and as hard as possible to help these animals find new homes.

5. It's to sad to visit Animal Contro! How can I help without having to go to the shelter.

For all of us it is a very difficult job being around so many animals that we know not all will get homes. Often the love and the care the animal receives at our shelter is the only kindness alot of these animals have ever seen. We encourage people to visit and ask questions, we have an excellent volunteer program that is beneficial to both the volunteer and the animal.

Juvenile Court

1. What type of cases does Juvenile Court hear?

-Delinquent, unruly, truancy, runaway, and traffic offenses

-Petitions to establish paternity, visitation, custody, and child support between unmarried parents

-Dependency and Neglect: Circumstances under which a child may be in eminent risk of substantial harm and needs the protection of the Court.

2. How do I file a petition?

Judicial Commissioners are available 24 hours a day to assist with delinquent, unruly, and runaway offenses. For all other petitions, please contact Juvenile Services at 790-5812.

4. How do I request a court appointed attorney?

You have the right to a court appointed attorney if:
1. You are a juvenile charged with a delinquent offense.
2. You are the respondent in a petition for dependent and neglect.
If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, you may qualify for a court appointed attorney.
Contact Juvenile Services for the appropriate forms to request an attorney.

5. What and/or who do I bring to court?

If you are a juvenile charged with an unruly or delinquent petition, you must appear with a parent or guardian and anything related to the case. If you are the parent/respondent in a petition you may bring anything related to the case. If needed, you have the right to have witnesses subpoenaed to testify on behalf of your case.

6. What do I wear to court?

Business casual attire is recommended. No shorts, tank tops, camisoles, or clothing with inappropriate logos.

7. Who do I contact if I have a question about a court order or how to complete any requirements?

Contact the Youth Services Officer (YSO) assigned to the case. If you do not know who the YSO is, contact Juvenile Services at 790-5812. For questions about public service work, contact Kate Walton.

8. Is a juvenile placed under arrest if they are handcuffed and transported to juvenile detention by law enforcement?

No, juveniles are considered to be in custody, not under arrest, if they are handcuffed and transported to detention. (TCA 37-1-113)

9. Are juveniles convicted of criminal offenses?

No, a juvenile is found to be a delinquent or unruly child in need of treatment or rehabilitation (TCA 37-1-102)

Property Assessor

1. How do I change my mailling address?

Call our office (615)790-5708. We would need the name of the property owner and property address at which point changes can be made for the county and municipalities for the current year.

2. I sold my property in May, why am I getting the tax bill?

The tax roll is prepared according to the owner of the property as of January 1.

3. How do I figure my taxes?

Take your TOTAL APPRAISAL, multiply by 25% for Residential, 40% for Commercial & Industrial, or 30% for Personal Property to get your ASSESSED VALUE. Multipy your tax rate per hundred of your ASSESSED VALUE for your tax amount.

4. What is Greenbelt?

Greenbelt is a program designated for property owners of 15 acres or more. It allows for a reduction in value if the land is used for agricultural or forest purposes.

5. How will I know what value the Assessor has placed on my home or business?

We will mail an Assessment Change notice to each taxpayer with value changes in May of each year. If you disagree with the values you should contact this office for further review.

6. What should I do if I think my appraisial is incorrect?

Call our office, we will be happy to go over the information with you to make sure everything is correct. If you are still not satified with your values then you can make an appointment with the County Board of Equalization.

7. How do I make an appointment with the County Board of Equalization?

Call our office the first week of June to schedule an appointment.

8. How often does the county reappraise?

Williamson County is on a 5 year cycle. The last Reappraisal was in 2006. The next one will be in 2011.

9. What's the difference between Real Property and Personal Property?

Real property is the real estate (buildings & land).
Personal Property is for assets used in a business.

10. I'm a new business owner, what assets do I have to claim?

You must claim all assets, used 50% or more, for your business. You would not need to report anything that is for resale.

11. Who has to report Tangible Personal Property?

Every business in Tennessee is required to file a schedule annually. This should be filed with the Assessor of Property in the county where the business is located.

12. When is the Tangible Personal Property schedule due?

The schedule is to be completed, signed and returned to the Assessor of Property on or before March 1st of each year.

13. What is considered to be Tangible Personal Property?

Tangible Personal Property is considered to be property used or held for use that is in the taxpayer’s business or profession.

14. What happens if I do not file my schedule?

A forced assessment will be placed on your business if you have not filed your schedule by March 1. You may also be subject to a penalty as provided by state law.

15. What if I filed my schedule by March 1st, but made an error in reporting assets?

Taxpayers who file their schedule in a timely manner may amend their personal property return. The amended return must be received on or before September 1st of the following year.

16. What is a Personal Property tax?

A tax levied against all businesses.

17. I lease equipment for my business, how do I file it?

You will receive a schedule in January for your business, all leased equipment is to be reported on the back of the schedule and turned in by March 1.
