Williamson County Merit Program

All public schools in Williamson County, TN are welcome and encouraged to participate in the Williamson Recycles/Keep Williamson Beautiful Merit Program. This year-round program offers students environmental education and volunteer opportunities at school.

Our goal is to inspire generations of environmental stewards!

The program focuses on four areas: Waste Reduction & Recycling, Litter Prevention, Beautification, and Education.

Seasonal School Education Programs

Tree Wise Arbor Day Season Program, March

Tree Wise is the annual Arbor Day season education program bringing trees and tree education to kindergarten and 1st grade classes in Williamson County, TN. A Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation (MTEMC) arborist and the Williamson County recycling specialist conduct an assembly-style and interactive presentation at your school!

In March 2016, the program reached over 3,700 WCS and FSSD kindergarten and first grade students and distributed over 4,000 native Flowering Dogwood seedlings to students and teachers!

2nd Grade Environmental Reading Program, April

Volunteer readers visit 2nd grade classrooms throughout the county and read environmental stories to students!

Recycled Project Contest 2016

The annual Recycled Project Contest includes two divisions: elementary and middle school. WCS and FSSD students are encouraged to participate!
Projects will be due Friday, May 13, 2016.
