The Highway Superintendent is the head of the highway department and has general control over location, relocation, construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of the county road system, including bridges.

Mission Statement
To construct and maintain roads and bridges that provide safe, convenient and efficient movement of people and goods.

Highway Commission
The County Highway Commission recommends the annual road list, proposes the annual budget for the Highway Department, and is responsible for acquisition of land necessary for roadways and bridges. They are also responsible for the selection of the Highway Superintendent, among many other duties and responsibilities.

Old Natchez Trace Rd Update 8-12--2014

- The Highway Department has replaced the bridge between Moran Rd and Temple Rd and will re-open this side of the roadway by 18 August 2014.   

- The Old Town bridge between Temple Rd and Montpier Farms will be replaced starting on 18 August 2014 and that portion of Old Natchez Trace Rd will need to be closed.

The part of Old Natchez Trace Rd between Temple Rd and Montpier Farms  will be closed to thru traffic beginning 18 August 2014 until completion of the bridge.  


-Once the above bridge is complete, in place reclamation of the entire roadway base will begin and then the final paving will be completed.
