The Highway Superintendent is the head of the highway department and has general control over location, relocation, construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of the county road system, including bridges.

Highway Commission
The County Highway Commission recommends the annual road list, proposes the annual budget for the Highway Department, and is responsible for acquisition of land necessary for roadways and bridges. They are also responsible for the selection of the Highway Superintendent, among many other duties and responsibilities.
