Request for Personnel Records (This form is ONLY for current and or former Williamson County Government Employee records requests)

  1. The Tennessee Public Records Act (TPRA) provides that all state, county and municipal records shall, at all times during business hours be open for personal inspection by any citizen of this state, and those in charge of the records shall not refuse such right of inspection to any Tennessee citizen, unless otherwise provided by state law. The Williamson County Public Records Policy is available for inspection and duplication in the Williamson County Archives and the Williamson County Clerk's Office. The TPRA grants Tennessee citizens the right to access open public records that exist at the time of the request. The TPRA does not require records custodians to compile information or create or recreate records that do not exist.
  2. Is the requestor a Tennessee citizen?*
    Proof of Tennessee residency/citizenship is required. Requestor must supply a copy of Tennessee driver’s license, other Tennessee issued photo identification, or two (2) documents from governmental entities which were sent by U.S. mail to the requestor at his or her home address within the past six (6) months.

  4. Record Request - Inspection or copies?*
    The TPRA does not permit fees or require a written request for inspection only.
  5. Costs
    If costs for copies are assessed, the requestor has a right to receive an estimate. Enter the maximum amount below that you are willing to pay to waive your right to an estimate.

  7. NOTE: Delivery preference will be given consideration. Williamson County does not guarantee that delivery preferences will be feasible in all requests.
    Any copies requested will be delivered to the address used to verify Tennessee citizenship. If copies are delivered electronically the email address needs to be in the name of the requester.

    The TPRA grants Tennessee citizens the right to access open public records that exist at the time of the request. The TPRA does not require records custodians to compile information or create or recreate records that do not exist. Under the TPRA, record requests must be sufficiently detailed to enable a governmental entity to identify the specific records sought. As such, your record request must provide enough detail to enable the records custodian responding to the request to identify the specific records you are seeking.
